CafeWiFi Policy
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information CafeWiFi collects and uses, and how that information is handled.
Last updated: September 28, 2026
1. Information We Collect
- Account information provided through Google sign-in, such as email address, display name, and user identifier
- Cafe information registered or edited by users, such as store names, addresses, location information, official URLs, Wi-Fi information, and power outlet information
- Speed measurement results saved by users, measurement timestamps, target cafes, and power outlet availability
- Logs needed to operate the service, such as search conditions, AI search inputs, error information, and usage status
- Technical information needed to maintain signed-in sessions and prevent abuse, such as browser information, cookies, and authentication sessions
- Device coordinates only when location access is already granted, or the country, city, approximate coordinates, and accuracy radius inferred from the connection IP address, to adjust city order on the home page
- Device coordinates, only when you allow location access, to show the area around you on the cafe map
2. Purposes of Use
- To provide cafe search, cafe information display, and storage and aggregation of speed measurement results
- To handle sign-in, permission checks, abuse prevention, and inquiries
- To improve search accuracy, display quality, incident response, and the service
- To show cities nearer to the visitor first on the home page
- To respond to acts that violate laws, regulations, or the Terms
3. Transmission to External Services
- Google OAuth is used for sign-in.
- Google Maps / Places API is used for cafe search and cafe information retrieval.
- Supabase is used for authentication, data storage, and API delivery.
- Anthropic API is used to interpret natural language for AI search.
- Measurement Lab (M-Lab) NDT7 is used for speed measurements. Measurement data, including public IP addresses, is sent to M-Lab and may be treated as public data under M-Lab policies.
- OpenFreeMap is used to display the cafe map. When map data is loaded, the connection IP address and the area shown on the map are sent to OpenFreeMap. Device coordinates themselves are not sent.
- GeoJS is used to adjust city order on the home page. The connection IP address is sent when the browser requests GeoJS, and GeoJS traffic passes through the Cloudflare network. GeoJS returns a country, city, approximate coordinates, and accuracy radius. CafeWiFi does not retain IP addresses, ASN data, or organization data from the response.
4. Third-Party Disclosure
CafeWiFi does not provide information that can identify individuals to third parties, except when required by law, when the user has consented, or when information is sent to external services necessary to provide the service.
5. Publicly Displayed Information
Cafe information, Wi-Fi information, speed measurement results, and other data shared as part of the service may be displayed to other users. Email addresses are not normally displayed on the service screens.
6. Retention and Deletion
Approximate location returned by GeoJS is kept in this browser’s sessionStorage for one hour. Precise device coordinates are not stored. Device coordinates obtained on the cafe map are used only to search cafes in the visible area and are neither stored nor included in analytics. If GeoJS or location access is unavailable, cities remain in the default order. Other collected information is retained for the period necessary to provide the service, verify operations, and comply with laws and regulations. To request deletion of account information or posted data, please contact us through the contact page. However, measurement data sent to M-Lab is handled according to M-Lab policies.
7. Security
CafeWiFi works to manage security within the necessary scope to prevent leakage, loss, or alteration of collected information, including through authentication, access controls, and log review.
8. Revisions
This Policy may be revised in response to changes in the service or external services. If there are material changes, we will provide notice through the service in an easy-to-understand way.
9. Contact
For questions about handling, disclosure, correction, or deletion of personal information, please use the contact page.
